The decision was taken and UN forces arrived to protect Srebrenica ..

The United Nations resumed its efforts to implement the Armistice Agreement and to reach a final peace agreement which emphasized on the separation of Muslim forces from Serbian forces along the confrontation lines and to refrain from shooting of both sides.

It also stated that the international peacekeeping forces are to monitor the cessation of hostilities and granting the international protection forces and its officials of having the full movement freedom.

In early 1995, the supply convoys were less and less of what it was, dwindling the resources that were important to the civilians also the presence of the United Nations diminished seriously and eventually was forced on patrolling Jeep forces on foot and the soldiers who went outside the area in the weekend were not allowed to return again to the region so there numbers fell from 600 to 400 men in March and April.

The presence of Dutch soldiers among Serb forces near the observation posts was noted ..!

In spite of the pressure from the international community to put an end to the war and the ongoing efforts to negotiate a peace agreement, Radovan Karadzic, the President of the Republic of Srpska gave the Army of Srpska a direction of a long-term strategy about Srpska troops that was known as the (direction 7) which stated:

"Completion of the physical separation of Srebrenica and Zepa as soon as possible, and the prevention of any contact between individuals to carry out combat operations and create an unbearable situations for ending the hope for continued survival or life of the inhabitants of Srebrenica as planned and well-considered because of insecurity"

By mid 1995, the humanitarian situation of Bosnian civilians and military became catastrophic.

Naser Orić left by a helicopter to Tuzla, leaving high ranked officers for leadership.

In late June, series of reports including urgent appeals were issued and when it failed, Bosnian civilians began dying of hunger and the mayor of Srebrenica reported that 8 have died of starvation ...

I don't know where to start from but Al-jazeera just announced the arrest of Radovan Kradzic, the Serbian commander who killed more than 8000 people in Srebrenica.

The Serbian presidency said in a statement: "The place of Radovan Karadzic have been identified and arrested and added that he was brought before the investigating judge war crimes in the capital Belgrade, as required under the law governing cooperation with the War Crimes Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia.

Samir Hassan, Jazeera's correspondent in Sarajevo said that the Serbian authorities have a week before it decide whether Karadzic will be handed to the court and by this, he would be the 44th accused, who referred to The Hague on charges of committing war crimes.

So yesterday was the first Serbian official in charge of cooperation with the War Crimes Tribunal for Former confirm that Karadzic does not exist in the Serbian land.

Karadzic was convicted in 1995 - as president of the Bosnian Serb Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces during the war 1992/1995- with his military commander Ratko Mladic - who remain at large - on charges including genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity for their role in the war in Bosnia.

In 1992, the Bosnian war began just next to Srebrenica.

Serbs wanted to form a political entity of Republic Srpska so the towns and villages around Srebrenica were a first priority to them whithout which they would not be able to form this entity.

Operations of ethnic cleansing against those who are not Sarbs began at the eastern Bosnian regions which were safe cities at that time.

That inhuman ugly process lead to houses demolishing, looting, beatings and even killings in several towns and villages in eastern & central Bosnia, Kirsika, Sanagova and Zvoranik & led to the death of 1156, according to the Bosnian government.

Bosniak Muslims were killed and families of men and women were separated in military camps or forced to flee to Srebrenica.

BUT Was Srebrenica a safe haven for them ..?

Serbs military and paramilitary forces were able to control the neighbouring region and parts of eastern Bosnia and they controled over Srebrenica for several weeks early in 1992 which led to the killing of civilians and the expulsion of Bosniaks in May of the same year.

The Bosnian government was able to restore the town under the command of Nasir Orić and over the remainder of the period in 1992, it was able to strengthen its control over Srebrenica.

By 1993, it was able to contact the Bosniaks and linked Zepa to the south and west of Cerska.

Bosnian forces attacked a base of an important strategy for the Serbs in the village of Kravica but the judgement by the Court of Naser Orić that has been issued in this process said that the prosecution did not provide convincing evidence that the Bosnian forces are responsible since the Serbian forces used artillery in the fighting in villages surrounding Srebrenica and military aircraft.

However, the Serbs seized Konjvec polji and Cerska and reduced the size of the town of Srebrenica to 150 square kilometers.

In March 1993, the French General Ellen Murillo who was the commander of the UN saving forces visited Srebrenica.

At that time the city was suffering from the effects of the siege and the serbs doings that has destroyed the water supply and lead for food, medicine and other necessities to be extremely rare.

Before leaving Murillo said to the residents of Srebrenica

"I will never abandon you"

In April, thousands of Bosnians were evacuated from Srebrenica under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which was opposed by the Bosnian government.

In Sarajevo, the Security Council of the UN announced the resolution No. 819 which called on all parties and others concerned to be treat Srebrenica and its environs as safe zones that should be free from any armed attack or any other act of hostilities then in the same month, the first United Nations troops reached to Srebrenica.

So as I said earlier, Srebrenica lies to the eastern of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but let me first introduce to you Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Capital : Sarajevo.

One of the republics of former Yugoslavia in southern Europe.

Bounded to the north, west and south to Croatia while from the east it's bounded to Serbia and Montenegro.

Geographically Bosnia represents the central, Eastern and Western regions while Herzegovina is the name of the Neretva River Basin.

Politically Bosnia and Herzegovina was an area that was separated by Ivan Mountains but was then united by Kotrohmenic the King of Bosnia at that time.

Many Bosnians became Muslims during the period of Ottoman rule and named a Bosniak.

Let's bring the picture more clear ..

Bosnia is one of the several small countries that emerged from the disintegration of Yugoslavia which was composed of customary and religious groups :

1- Serbs (Orthodox Christians).
2- Croats (Catholic).
3- Albanians who were Muslims.

During World War II:

Germany had invaded the state of Yugoslavia but faced strong resistance by Josip Tito who after the defeat of Germany tried to unify Yugoslavia under the slogan "Brotherhood and unity".

So he managed to integrate Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia with Kosovo and Vojvodina.

He also maintained the relations with the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War but after his death in 1980, Yugoslavia was in political and economic chaos.

Successive events then lead to the independence of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Yugoslavia in October 1991

Srebrenica ..

Lies to the eastern of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the independent from former Yugoslavia,

it had a war between Serbian Christians and Muslims, who represent the majority of the country

on the 11th of July 1995, a decision was made which led to the massacre that's considered the most serious war crime occurred in Europe since world war II

the decision was .. Slaughter Muslims ..!

By a Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and military commander Ratko Mladic

And the soldiers obeyed them without thinking of the lowest mercy or respect for the human being,regardless of their religion, race or colour.

One decision ended the lives of thousands of Muslims

and left the survivals in pain for the end of there lives ..

But do you know what was the greatest misfortune?

That massacre occurred as a result of a trick on Srebrenica .. !!

What trick ..?

Whome you may be did not hear about ever

Perhaps because they now have become dust ..

Or perhaps some bones buried ..

Perhaps due to the fact that many of them are missing ..

Perhaps because the survivals of whom live in silence of the terrifying tragedy

The tragedy that didn't end and still there are mass graves being discovered till today ..

The city that since then about 8000 bodies from more than 60 mass graves

have been discovered near it's boarders, including the identity of 2500.

There are still remnants of bodies reserved in 3500 bags

in the mortuary waiting to be identified.

The city that the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan waited five years to blame the whole international community in 2000 for the his failure to assume

responsibility to protect Srebrenica.

And that the perpetrators of crimes are still free ..
